Dear all,

Pardon my English but I'm still not totaly comfortable with my French, but I'll get there!

I would like to ask for some help on finding a good housing solution to commute to Kirchberg daily from the North of France. Honestly I wouldn't like to spend more than 50minutes/1hr for each trip 😀

To obtain this sweet spot, which city/neighborhood are the most recommended?

Thanks in advance!

A bientot

Hi

Don’t expert to be at ~1 hour from a village from France up to the Kirchberg .

Especially if you travelling between 7h30 and 9h00 AM, and retourne between 4h30and 6h30 PM, as se have more and more trafic jam on  the  highway between France and the  center of Luxembourg city.

A good area would be Roussy-le-Village, as from there you may go at work by car using small roads instead of the highway.

Have a look also in the area of Sierck-les-bains, Apach, and that area in France.

You will from there, attack the road to reach the Kirchberg from Est, which is still not easy, but much more conveniant if driving trough the small villages.

You are welcome.

Mondorf les Bains (village at the border, on part in FR, on part in Lux), could also be interesting.

From Mondorf, You have a lot of bus up to Kirchberg.

This is i.e line 303  (on the next Link.

If you have a car, you may adapt your daily trajet by analysing the bus trajet, and avoid

the jam by driving through secondary rodas.

😀

Still evaluating, probably initially I'll start off with a studio or a one bedroom 10/15 minutes from the city centre, because I don't have a car at the moment.

But thank you for your suggestion

Welcome to Luxembourg ! ?

Except if you have some facilities and advantages in living in North France, at peak hours the traffic jam is a real problem (but also coming from Belgium). For short, better to find a location in Luxembourg, close (say 10 min by car) to a railway or a bus stop. You will spare a lot of time. But know also that several bus lines deserving the country show a frequency of 1 bus per hour only while others have a bus each 10 minutes.

From the border (in LU) to the centrum the train takes about 15-20 min, not more. From the border, buses takes 35-60 min depending on the traffic.

Kirchberg and in a radius of ~2-5 km around are in pray to serious traffic jam between 7-9 am and 4-6+ pm than can delayed your path up to 30 minutes. In some case it is twice as faster in car.

But Kirchberg is very well deserved by several bus lines, and the tram terminus (direction centrum) is today Place de l'étoile located and the end of Route d'Arlon. There is a tram each 6 min and it is much confortable than the bus.

tram (label T1) : purple line

bus : all other colors

You can also call the Mobiliteit office managing bus lines. Explain them your case. Thjey can help you finding the best solution.

I think that these 2 misunderstood (or maybe it is me...) but, i think that Cobretii is currently living in north of france (which is Lille and around, and not Thionville or Metz...which is East of France)

Totally depending on the amount you want to spend on the rent, but my advice would be : live in Lux town (approx 1400€/month), you'll reach Kirchberg quite fast with public transport. But these 1h30 that you will gain every day, will be totally worth the money.
